Fisherman injured in accident on board

Fri Sep 09 11:53:59 CEST 2022 Timsen

The BAM 'Relámpago' received a distress call from the 'Carmen e Pilar' that was fishing off the coast of Mauritania on Sep 8, 2022. One of the crew members of the fishing vessel had suffered an accident while collecting fishing gear, receiving a severe blow to the head. The captain, aware of the presence of the Navy ship in the area, requested the assistance of the 'Relámpago' to assess and treat the crew member. The 'Relámpago' sent a medical team aboard the 'Carmen e Pilar' to examine and treat the wounded man. The health team, after a long medical attention, managed to stabilize the crew member for later transfer to the nearest hospital. After the assistance, the Navy ship resumed its surveillance work in the area.
