Collision on Yangtze River
The 'Cape Legacy', part-loaded with 90,000 tons iron ore fines, has been damaged in the collision with the bulk carrier 'Fei Da 138' in the mouth of the Yangtze River on March 8, 2025, at 4.12 p.m.. Both ships were sailing up the Yangtze. The 'Cape Lagecy' was inbound from the North Channel, and the 'Fei Da 138' was arriving from the South Channel, when they collided.en route to Zhenjiang Port. The collision tore a hole in the bow of the 'Cape Legacy' and caused a water ingress in the port side forepeak tank of the ship. The 'Cape Legacy', with a pilot on board and a tug escort, was safely moored at the Baoshan Beimaodi Anchorage in Yangtze River, where a full assessment and inspection was to be carried out by the relevant authorities to determine next actions.
