Collision off Selsey Bill

The 'Calypso.Gr', enroute from Riga towards the Panama Canal with 20 crew members on board, was in collision with the fishing vessel 'Soetkin-Z18' (IMO: 9222065),on Feb 12, 2021, at 3.08 a.m. in pos. 50 27 25 N, 000 24 51 W, about 22,3 miles from Selsey Bill which suffered a two-metre hole, three metres above the water line at port side on the fishing gear store. Temporary repairs were carried out with foam and woodblocks, and the crew was checking every 30 minutes. No pollution was reported. The Selsey Lifeboat and the Coastguard helicopter R175 attended the incident scene and provided assistance. At 06.20 a.m. the fishing vessel had recovered their gear and have full propulsion and steering. The Selsey lifeboat was also released. At 05.15 a.m. the helicopter was released from scene. The fishing vessel left the scene around 1 p.m. and returned to the Zeebrugge European Fish Centre on Feb 13 at 3.50 a.m. The 'Calypso.Gr' suffered only minor damage.
