Robbers broke into containers

Fri Apr 17 10:38:26 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'Callao Express', enroute from Posorja to Balboa, was boarded by six armed robbers seven miles off the coast of Isla Puna, Ecuador, on April 11, 2020, at 04.35 a.m. They took hostage two duty crewmen and tied them up. Upon seeing the robbers, the Master raised the alarm, the crew was mustered and the pilot notified the Coastguard. Seeing the alerted crew, the robbers fired warning shots, fled the vessel and escaped. After searching the vessel, the crew noticed some of the containers had been broken into. The crew and the ship were safe.
