Crew member tested negative

Tue Dec 08 10:45:55 CET 2020 Timsen

A crew member of the 'BW Matsuyama' which was docked south of Perth, has tested negative to COVID-19. The man was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital overnight after experiencing flu-like symptoms while aboard the bulk carrier. He has since produced a negative test and returned to the ship, which has resumed loading at the Kwinana grain terminal and was now set to depart on Dec 8. There were 19 crew aboard the vessel, all of whom boarded in Manila on August and have been wearing personal protective equipment.

Freighter in lockdown

Mon Dec 07 12:58:18 CET 2020 Timsen

A crew member experienced flu-like symptoms in the night of Dec 6 on the 'BW Matsuyama' which docked at the Kwinana terminal in Fremantle. No one on board allowed to leave as they were awaiting the results of a coronavirus test for the unwell crew member who was being isolated from the rest of the crew on board. A number of port workers at the CBH Kwinana Grain Terminal were also put into lockdown as a precaution. They have since been allowed to leave. The crew member's COVID-19 test result is expected on Dec 8.
