Tug dislodged stuck barge

On Sep 24, 2025, at 1.30 p.m. the 'Buchanan 5' refloated a 140-ft-BMLP-barge which was stuck in the Norwalk River in Norwalk, Connecticut, just south of the Wall Street since Sep 20, 2025, enroute to the Devine Bros., and now blocking access to a nearby boat club. On Sep 24, 2025, the salvage operation began at around 7 a.m., when a private crane contractor floated up the river and onto scene to begin removing some of the 1,600 tons of gravel from the lodged barge to lighten the vessel. The crane unloaded about a third of the gravel from the east side of the stuck barge, dropping the gravel into an empty one. Then the tug dislodged the barge.
