Philippine patrol boat damaged by Chinese Coast Guard vessel

The 'Datu Pagbaya' was attacked by the China Coast Guard in the waters around Scarborough Shoal on Nov 3, 2024. The Philippine Coast Guard stated that Chinese navy and Coastguard vessels had taken aggressive actions against a routine patrol by it and the fisheries bureau near the contested Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea. The ship 3302 of the Chinese Coastguard fired a water cannon at the PCG vessel, aiming directly at the vessel's navigational antennas, which faced blocking, shadowing, and dangerous manoeuvres. The Chinese ship then intentionally sideswiped the 'Datu Pagbaya' at starboard side and launched a second water cannon attack on the same vessel. The Philippine ship was damaged in the attack.
