Russian captain fined for illegal fish dumping

The Russian captain of the "Boris Zaytsev" was fined with 250000 Norwegian Crowns as the police blamed the ship to hava had holes in the net through which fish was illegally dumped. In addition to the forfeiture fine of 250,000 Crowns the captain hismelf was fined with another 25,000 Crowns. As he was not accepting the fine, further investigations were to be carried out by the Tromsø police. The trawler was brought to Tromsø on Feb 9 by the Norwegian Coastguard which suspected the trawler for illegal dumping. Then the police took over the investigation. The ship sailed again on Feb 11 at 7.30 p.m.

Trawler detained for illegal fish dumping

The Norwegian Coastguard detained the "Boris Zaytsev" for suspected fish dumping on Feb 9, 2013. The trawler was escorted to the port of Tromsø for further investigation at 4.30 p.m. The trawler’s captain – Nikolay Kisly – was being interrogated by the police in Tromsø which started surveys aboard. It was likely that the trawler would be shortly released after the ship owner secured a banking guarantee. Rosrybolovstvo, the Russian federal fishing agencyn claimed the fishes were dumped unintentionally through the hole of the damaged trawl.
