Seven crew members unwell after inhaling toxic gas

Seven crew members of the "Bomar Mercury" were feeling unwell on July 21, 2015, while the ship was moored to a buoy in the Geul Port of Rotterdam. Two persons cleaning a tank came into contact with the toxic substance Aniline. As a result they were seriously injured. Two others who were near the area where the material had been released were also unwell. They were brought ashore with boats, where emergency services were waiting. Six ambulances and two ambulances on site. Four ambulances took the patients to specialized hospitals in Antwerp, Amsterdam and Goes. Two were transported by helicopters to a hospital in Amsterdam. Later that night three more crew members did not feel well. Again, the emergency services were alerted. One of the ambulances was just on the way from Antwerp- An air ambulance landed at the Old Maas Way, four ambulances and the fire brigade were on the spot again. A police boat brought the men ashore, where each was investigated in an ambulance. One of them was transported to a hospital. The other two did not need to go to the hospital. North Sea Tankers’ (NST) adds ‘Bomar Mercury’ to the pool fleet

North Sea Tankers’ (NST) North West European pool concept (V6) added the 7,003 dwt ‘Bomar Mercury’ to the pool fleet on 1st August. With this addition, the pool now consists of seven vessels and the aim to increase the pool fleet further with quality vessels, NST said. The pool members and manager have also agreed to stretch the pool criteria to include vessels having a deadweight slightly above/below the initially set parameters of 5,500-6,500 dwt. http://www.tankeroperator.com/news/todisplaynews.asp?NewsID=3699
