Tórsvik to replace Johanna Kristina after collision with ice flow

Tue Jun 20 09:53:58 CEST 2017 Timsen

A tug was deployed by the Royal Arctic Line to Tasiilaq in order to take the Danish cargo m/v "Johanna Kristina" , 254 gt (IMO: 031717), in tow to a yard in Nuuk following its collision with an ice flow on June 9, 2017. The ship suffered damage to its propeller and propeller shaft and thus has to be drydocked. The duration of the stay is unknown. The RAL has chartered the Canadian research vessel "Adolf Jensen" (MMSI: 31185000) for a few days this week. If ice and weather conditions allow it, the ship will bring out supply goods to the Arctic outposts. From the voyage 1726 on, the shipping company has chartered the "Tórsvík" which will replace the "Johanna Kristina" until the ship is ready again to take over the sailings along the East coast. Also the supply ship "Mary Arctica" is currently under repair in a shipyard in Frederikshavn after she hit an iceberg on June 1st.
