Drowning accident remarked only after some days
On June 19, 2022, Pablo Velázquez, who worked for the company Reyla S.A., unremarked fell into the water of the port of Montevideo while boarding the 'VB Gladiador'. The National Navy launched a search. Divers from the Prefecture have also been looking for him. The father of 4 children, has been working for the company many years. He had completed his workday on June 18, finishing his shift on June 19 at 12:00 a.m. and leaving his workplace as normal. In the afternoon, the person in charge of Port Operations called his cell phone to ask him if he could carry out tasks on those days, without receiving a response. Only on June 22 in the afternoon, the family consulted regarding his absence from his usual places and began to suspect that something might have happened. On June 23, videos from the company's security cameras began to be reviewed and, after an exhaustive search, on June 24 at night an image was found that shows the exact moment of his fall into the water. He slipped when he was trying to board the tug, which was moored in the port without activity at that time, already outside of his working hours, in an apparently completely accidental action. The video "was immediately sent to the Prefecture and was made available to the family and the unions.
