Tanker stuck on river dam

On Aug 31, 2013, at 4 p.m. the "Ben" ran onto a river dam at Sint Philipsland near the Hotel Oosterschelde at the conjunction of the Mastgat and the Zijpe. A salvage attempt of another barge failed. Also the tug "Delta" and the fast lifeboat "Mistral" were fast on scene, but were unable to take action due to the falling tide. In the afternoon the tanker was high and dry on its whole length and had to wait for the night and the return of the flood. At 10 p.m. the ship refloated with own power. Wheelhouse destroyed in allision

In the midday hours of Dec 19. 2012, the "Ben" allided with a railway bridge over the IJssel near Zutphen. The wheelhouse of the ship was destroyed due to the impact. The water police of the National Police proceeded to determine the cause of the accident. The Oude IJssel Bridge was damaged too, and the traffic was temporarily halted. When the trains may run again was not yet known. First it had to be viewed whether the stability of the track was affected. No one was injured in the accident.
