Search for missing crew member suspended
The Coast Guard suspended their search for a missing crew member of the "BBG Bright" in the water in vicinity of Convent, Louisiana, on Mar 2. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans had been notified by Customs and Border Protection at 8:30 a.m. that a 35 year-old male Chinese national was missing from the vessel. Coast Guard crews searched eight miles of the Lower Mississippi River for approximately six hours. Rescuers did not find any indication of the person in the water and additional information received by investigators led the Coast Guard to suspend the search of the person on the water. Search for missing crew member on Mississippi
A 29-foot U.S. Coast Guard response boat continued in the afternoon of MAr 2, 2016, to search the Mississippi River in St. James Parish for a 35-year-old crew member of the "BBG Bright". he was discovered missing about 7:45 a.m. from the bulk carrier. The ship had gotten underway about 7 a.m. U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents notified the Coast Guard in New Orleans about 8:30 a.m. that the crewman, a Chinese national, was missing. The Coast Guard response boat soon started the search of the Mississippi River near Convent in St. James Parish.
