Cook found dead in ransacked cabin
A crew member of the 'BBC Singapore' was found dead aboard the vessel that docked in the Port of Port-of-Spain on July 15, 2024, at around 4:30 p.m. An official at Alston's Shipping received a call from the vessel's captain´who reported that Lakunin Oleksandr, a 37-year-old cook on the ship, was found unresponsive after being seen intoxicated during their departure from Suriname on July 13 at 7 a.m. Upon receiving the report, CPL Ramoutar and PC Cox visited the vessel. They found Oleksandr’s quarters ransacked, with the deceased lying nude on a bed, bearing marks of violence on his right arm and face. Investigations were continuing.
