Grounding on Paraná

Fri Nov 20 10:02:19 CET 2020 Timsen

On Nov 19, 2020, at 01.40 a.m. the 'Asia Graeca' ran aground on the Paraná river at km 453 (right margin) while sailing downstream from San Lorenzo, shortly after unmooring from the Terminal 6. It was partially obstructing the navigation and was trying to refloat under own means. The bulk carrier was finally pulled off about 24 hours later with the assistance of the tugs 'Brutus' and 'Ranquel'. The ship was moved downstream and moored at San Lorenzo anchorage on Nov 20 at 3.45 a.m. in pos. 32° 45.50' S 060° 43.20' W for inspections by the Coastguard. The ship was loaded with 39.309 tons of soybean meal and was bound for Japan after being topped off in Santos.
