Cargo ship grounded to avoid collision
The KM 'Asia Glory 6' ran aground at the Benteng Asakota coast in the, Soromandi District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) on the night of Sep(21, 2024) or around 7.20 p.m. WITA. The Bima Police Polairud team went to the grounding site after receiving reports from the public. The 'Asia Glory 6' had sailed from Dili NTT without cargo on Sep 20 en route to Bima Port. When the ship entered the Bima Bay, suddenly a fishing boat approached at the ship's port side. The 'Asia Glory 6' deliberately turned to starboard to avoid a collision with the fishing boat and grounded near the Asakota fort in pos. 04' 52.8 “S 119° 05” 09.5 ’E, approximately 30 nautical miles from Bima Harbour. AHT Carrier took Asia Glory in tow
The "Asia Glory" was drifting in the Gulf of Thailand with propulsion problems. The tug "AHT Carrier" (IMO:9573000) was called for assistance and connected to the disabled cargo ship.
