Bulkcarrier dragged anchor in storm

Sun Mar 25 17:34:58 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Queen Jhansi" started to drag anchor on March 25, 2017, around 6 a.m. in storm Hugo off Gijon. The crew was warned from the rescue tower of El Musel that the ship was moving to land, so it was ordered to raise the anchor and leave the anchorage. Due to the storm and technical problems this manoever could not be carried out. Since then, the ship requested the support of the rescue vessel "Alonso de Chaves" (IMO: 8411164) and the tug "Navia" (IMO: 9184471) from El Musel. Finally the bulkcarrier left the anchorage, moving offshore to a position the north of Gijón, until a latitude close to the Cabo de Peñas, escorted by the tug and the ship of Salvamento Maritimo. It docked at the north pier of the El Musel extension on March 26 to load cement and clinker.
