Collision on the Rhine

On Dec 20, 2024, at, 7:15 p.m. the master of the 'Aquapolis' overlooked the 'Maria B', which was stationary on the Rhine near Wanheim at river kilometer 771, which was was torn open vertically at the stern and severely dented. Since the damage was above the waterline, no water ingress occurred. Two other ships had to be alerted to avoid the danger area while the accident was being investigated. The engine, the rudder system and the pile anchors of the ship were checked by an expert. The 'Maria B' entered the port of Duisburg-Huckingen on Dec 21 at 12:50 a.m. The 'Aquapolis' was able to continue its voyage without major damage.
