Incident report into two accidents published

Mon Jan 20 11:31:27 CET 2025 Timsen

An incident report from the Norwegian Maritime Authority has been completed regarding the accident of the "AQS Saga", which drifted ashore on December 30, 2024, and which had been involved in a collision with a small catamaran on Nov 29. It was currently unknown what caused the vessel to run aground. There were technical challenges with the 'AQS Saga' after delivery of the vessel in May. There has therefore been a great deal of effort in close cooperation with our suppliers to find and correct errors. The company AQS, headquartered in Flatanger in Trøndelag. has a relentless focus on uncovering the root cause. Workboat drifted ashore after engine failure

Thu Jan 02 19:26:51 CET 2025 Timsen

The "AQS Saga" suffered an engine failure on Dec 30, 2024, at 3.49 p.m. in Kvænangen with six people on board, while working on maintenance at the Mowi location Kviteberg, in Kvænangen in Nord-Troms. The ship issued a mayday call, which was picked up by the Coastal Radio, which connected to theMRCC. However, snow drifts and strong winds meant that none of the rescue helicopters from Banak and Tromsø could reach the scene. The workboat "Laksen" was ready to assist, but the crew ultimately chose abandon ship. The crew put on life jackets, jumped into the sea and swam ashore approximately 40 meters in rough seas. Ambulance personnel were waiting on shore to take care of the crew. There have been no reports of injuries. The "AQS Saga" was washed ashore amid wind gusts of 19 meters per second in Kvænangen. On The casualty has since been transported to Skjervøy. The ship was in Kvænangen on assignment for the fish farming giant MOWI.
