ANNIE HILLINA 8028412

Thu Dec 09 09:17:00 CET 2010 Timsen

in the morning of Dec 8, 2010, the Dutch Coastguard alerted their British counterparts in Dover to a Dutch man who had suffered a serious accident on board the "Annie Hillina" which was in the British search and rescue region at the time. The man required immediate evacuation from the vessel which was in the south west lane of the Dover Strait at the time after suffering back injuries sustained in a fall of 8 metres into the fish hold. Dover Coastguard took on the coordination of the incident and contacted the Belgian Coastguard to scramble their helicopter based at Koksijde and asked the vessel to move out of the traffic lane. Dover RNLI lifeboat was also requested to launch. An A&E Consultant at the Queen Alexandra hospital being advised of the extent of his injuries requested that the patient be taken to the nearest hospital which is the Veurne Hospital in Belgium.
