Crew member lost over board

Thu Dec 14 10:41:15 CET 2023 Timsen

In the early morning of Dec 13, 2023, a crew member was lost overboard from the 'Amadeus-TH 7' on the North Sea northwest of the island of Heligoland. Rescue units from the DGzRS as well as numerous other ships and two helicopters had searched a sea area around 60 nautical miles west of the North Frisian Islands. At around 12:20 a.m., the MRCC in Bremen had received a report that one of the eight crew members of the trawler had fallen overboard. In the area of operation were easterly winds of around nine Beaufort and four to five meter high seas with a water temperature of ten degrees Celsius. The MRCC immediately initiated a large-scale search involving merchant ships sailing in the area, a research vessel and a cruise ship, as well as the lifeboats 'Hermann Rudolf Meyer' of the Heligoland station, the 'Ernst Meier-Hedde' of the Amrum station, the 'Theo Fischer' of the Nordstrand station and the 'Pidder Lüng' of the Station List/Sylt. The MRCC initially appointed a vehicles carrier as the on-scene coordinator (OSC). A German “Sea Lion” SAR helicopter and a Danish SAR helicopter from Skrydstrup took part in the search from the air. After hours of operation at night in very bad weather, the four DGzRS boats were replaced by other ships in the morning, among them, the “Meerkatze” as on-scene-commander, the emergency tug “Nordic” and some merchant ships and fishing vessels. Shortly after 2 p.m., the MRCC stopped the search. The 'Amadeus' entered the port of Eemshaven on Dec 14 at 4.45 a.m. UTC.

Amadeus threatened oil rig

Thu Feb 28 11:26:11 CET 2019 Timsen

On Feb 9, 2019, the "Amadeus", 258 gt (IMO: 9040675) lost engine power and drifted towards the Malta flagged oil rig "Maersk Interceptor" (IMO: 8771552 ),which was working in the Hod field for Aker BP in pos. 56° 10.18' N 003° 26.05' E. The rig had to stop the ongoing wireline operation and withdrew from the well. A full patch was started as the fishing vessel approached. The "Stril Mermaid" and "Skandi Marøy" were sent to fishing vessel to take it in tow and ensure it did not enter the safety zone and further threatened the facility. The fishing vessel finally passed 0.35 nautical miles north of the rig which corresponds to just over 600 meters. Then it drifted towards Hod. Soon after, the "Skandi Marøy" managed to establish a towing connection and pulled the fishing vessel in north-east direction and in good clearance from Hod.
