Grounding on the Volga
The "Kufma 4" ran aground on the Volga at km mark 202 on the Volga in the morning of July 29, 2017. The vessel was en route from St. Petersburg to Tver upon the Volga. On July 30 by noon it was refloated. Overall, 39 people and six vessels participated in the salvage operation, including three specialists and equipment of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry. Volga - Caspian sea Canal, traffic closed
At 1915 LT Oct 30 2011 m/v Samur-8 ran aground at 126 kilometer mark, Volga – Caspian sea Canal. Vessel en route from Astrakhan to Enzeli (Iran), loaded with scrap. Attempts to refloat by own means failed, vessel awaiting assistance. Canal is closed for traffic.
