Detention in Setubal

On June 3, 2025, the Alsterdiep' was detained in Setubal with three deficiencies, two of which being regarded as seriously and grounds for a detention: 1) Propulsion and auxiliary machinery - Propulsion main engine Not as required 2) ISM - Ism certificate Not as required The vessel was released again on June 5 and left the port en route to El Ferrol.

Engine damage in stormy conditions

On Feb 12, 2018, at 5 p.m. the "Alsterdiep", en route from Velsen to Bridport, with a crew of 10 on board, sustained a main engine fault and an oil leak from the gearbox and went adrift in position 49 56N, 04 56W, at 98 degrees at the Lizard Light. The vessel has 3386 tonnes of coal on board. On scene was a southerly gale force 9. At 9.40 p.m. the trouble was fixed and the ship resumed its voyage. It berthed in Newport on Feb 14 at 5.50 a.m.
