Ferry refloated and towed to port
In the evening of Feb 11, the 'Agung Samura XVIII', which had run aground off Gilimanuk, Jembrana Regency, at 1.45 p.m. WITA, was refloated with the high tide and towed to the port at high tide at 21.15 p.m. by the 'Agund Samudra IX". The ship docked at the ÖCM Pier at 10.20 p.m., where the last four of on initially 42 passengers and the cargo of four trailers, three large trucks, one medium truck, two cars and five motorbikes were disembarked. 38 passengers had been evacuated before by an SAR team. At 11 p.m. the ship left after unloading and headed to Ketapang for further inspections. Ferry grounded in Bali Strait
The KMP 'Agung Samudra XVIII' ran aground in the waters of the Bali Strait south of the Tanjung Pasir beacon on Feb 11, 2024, after being swept away by the current The ship was waiting for high tide to move. There were no casualties. The ferry had departed from LCM Ketapang Harbor for Gilimanuk Harbor at around 12.15 p.m. WITA. While sailing, the current strengthened until the ship was dragged north and finally got stuck with 42 passengers, three large trucks, on medium truck, two small vehicles and five motorbikes on board. A joint SAR team has been deployed to the location to evacuate passengers and assist with the ship's maneuvering process. All passengers were directed to Gilimanuk Harbor.
