Engine damage off Piraeus
On May 20 at noon , the Port Authority of the Argosaronic Gulf was informed by the Captain of the 'Acheos' that during its scheduled route from the port of Aegina to the port of Piraeus, it experienced a malfunction in one of its four main engines. The ship sailed at a reduced speed to the port of Piraeus, where it safely disembarked 146 passengers. The Port Authority of the Argosaronic Gulf prohibited the ship from sailing until the damage was repaired and a certificate of class maintenance was presented by the classification society that monitors it.
Malfunction of two main engines in Piraeus
On the morning of April 16, 2025, the Port Authority of Argosaronic Gulf of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed by the Captain of the 'Acaheos', that ahead of the departure on its scheduled route from Piraeus to Aegina and Agistri with 628 passengers, 97 vehicles and 28 two-wheelers on board, a malfunction of two of its main engines occurred. The Port Guard prohibited the ship from sailing until the damage was repaired and a certificate of class maintenance was presented by the classification society that monitors it. The passengers and vehicles were forwarded to their destinations with the care of the shipping company.
Ferry damaged in storm
The 'Achaeos' suffered a broken window due to freak waves prevailing at Aegina Island on Nov 19, 2023, at 1.30 p.m. LT. The ferry was trying to berth at Aegina for more than an hour as winds at the scale of 10 Beaufort were blowing in the area. No injuries or water ingress have been reported.
