Crew member medevaced after fall from ladder

Wed Jul 19 11:32:32 CEST 2023 Timsen

A crew member of the 'Abetnauer' was rescued on July 17, 2023, after falling more than 10 feet from a ladder in Chhesapeake Bay. Shortly after 1:45 p.m., the United States Coast Guard requested Maryland State Police Aviation Command to hoist the injured person in the area of Stevensville, Maryland. Coordinating with the U.S. Coast Guard on board, rescuers got a helicopter into a steady 120-foot hover. A trooper/flight paramedic was lowered to the ship platform and assessed the worker's injuries. A backboard was secured onto the man, and once he was successfully hoisted safely into the helicopter, he was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, for treatment.
