River cruise ship ran into embankment
The 'A Rosa Riva' suffered an engine failure on the Danube near Ybbs-Persenbeug (Melk district), with 170 people on board, on April 12, 2025. The ship was en route from Bratislava to Passau when, shortly after the Ybbs-Persenbeug lock, it suddenly became unmaneuverable and ran into an embankment on the riverbank on the early evening. Repairs of fire damage completed
The "A-Rosa Riva" left the ÖSWAG Yard in Linz on Aug 22 at 10.40 p.m. after repairs and headed the Danube upstream bound to Vienna as first port of call after the fire.
Fire damage under repair in Linz
The "A-Rosa Riva" berthed at the ÖSWAG Yard in Linz on July 26 at 4 a.m. for investigations and repairs of the extensive fire damage. Several cabins, the sauna, the wellness area and a saloon were damaged by fire, heat and water. The fire was caused by a sauna oven which inflamed wooden panels in the surroundings. The Spanish passengers which had been accomodated in Vienna after the fire, were repatriated on July 27.
