Automatic Identification System requirements
oyo Maritime Authority has issued a reminder that the Automatic Identification System (AIS) requirements must be adhered to. SOLAS Chapter V Regulation 19 Section 2.4 states: "All ships of 300 gross tonnage and upwards engaged on international voyages and cargo ships of 500 gross tonnage and upwards not engaged on international voyages and passenger ships irrespective of size shall be fitted with an Automatic Identification System (AIS)." Vessels that fail to observe these requirements may be subject to action by the office of the Port Captain.
