Tanker suffered engine room fire
The 'Yi Cheng 6' with 14 Indian crew members on board, suffered a fire in the engine room and total power failure in the Gulf of Oman on June 29, 2025, en route from Kandla to Shinas. Responding to the distress call, the Indian Navy’s stealth frigate INS 'Tabar' deployed a rescue mission. A firefighting team and equipment were transferred onboard by the ship’s boat and helicopter. 13 Indian naval personnel and five crew members of the tanker were currently involved in firefighting operations, with the intensity of fire onboard reduced drastically.
