Crew ship started trials after repairs

Grounding on Scharhörn Reef

The "Windea Three" ran aground on the Scharhörn Reef off in the evening of Dec 6, 2014, while underway to the port. The ship got stuck at the edge of the bar around 16 nm NW of Cuxhaven. Due to an approaching storm the lifeboat "Hermann Helms" from the local DGzRS station immediately responded. The daughter boat "Biene" was unable to pull the supply ship off, so the lifeboat in spite of its draught of about two meters, which was about as much as the "Windea Three" had, approached the vessel in the surf, thereby touching the bottom several times itself. Finally a towing connection could be established, and the "Windea Three" was towed from the bar. The crew of seven was uninjured. The lifeboat escorted the "Windea Three" to the fishing port of Cuxhaven where both ships berthed around 9 p.m. The "Windea Three", which had started its service for the AG Offshore Ems only on 11 November, left Cuxhaven on Dec 8 entered the Emder Shipyard for repairs on Dec 9 around 6 a.m. Photos: https://www.facebook.com/amy.seehafen/media_set?set=a.353553478159582.1073742280.100005147980512&type=1
