Pump malfunction caused engine room fire

Fire disabled barge at Duisburg
In the morning of May 6, 2014, a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Wantij" on the Rhine at Rees. The fire brigades from Rees and Emmerich were on scene at the accident site between Rhine kilometer 829 and 830 where the ship had gone adrift. The Dutch master immediately dropped anchor, and fire boats tackled the fire. The water police encured that no swell endangered the boats.
