Elg intercepted with drugs
In the afternoon of June 17, 2019, the "Elg" was intercepted in the Mediterranean NE of Oran, the port of the ship’s departure. 350 bales with about 10 tons of hashish were found by Spanish drug enforcement agencies’ teams. The "Elg" was taken to Cartagena and put under arrest. The crew was also detained and an investigation under way. The "Elg" was under surveillance for several months, after surveillance agencies found her movements suspicious. Several countries agencies, including Turkey, were involved in this operation, which lasted six months.

Cargo ship disabled in Bosphorus
The "Helga" lost steering control after a rudder failure on July 18, 2016, at 10.20 a.m. in the southern part of the Bosphorus in Istanbul's Üsküdar district while transiting the strait in northern direction. The crew was unable to stop the vessel as it was sailing near the Maiden's Tower off the Üsküdar shore. The Coast Guard and port authority rescued the vessel from the shallow waters where it became stuck following the incident. The Istanbul Vessel Traffic Service sent the lifeboat "Kiyem" and the tug "Kurtarma 3" to assist, and it was towed back to the Marmara Sea by the tug and moored in the Yenikapi area. The ship left the anchorage off Istanbul on July 23 and resumed the voyage to Mariupol, ETA July 26.The vessel was en route from Nea Moudania to Mariupol with a crew of eight and a cargo of 1100 tons magnesia.
