High Court released arrested ship

Fri Mar 17 10:39:49 CET 2017 Timsen

The High Court of Bombay has released the "Union Demeter", which was arrested in December 2016, in Haldia Port on the shipowner's outstanding bunker bills. The vessel was set to be released to return to China after ship's bankrupt owner Nanjing-based Tranvast Holdings Limited (Tranvast) had been able to settle the outstanding fuel costs and the crew's salary. Court documents showed Justice SJ Kathawalla ordered the release of the vessel after the shipowner furnished a security in court, depositing a full claim amount of approximately $101,200.

Union Demeter to be released by Indian authorities

Fri Feb 24 09:53:48 CET 2017 arnekiel

Chinese vessel Union Demeter, which has been detained by an Indian court for nearly 50 days, will be released and returned to China. According to Nanjing Yuan Teng Shipping, the crew manager of the vessel, the owner Tranvast has managed to pay off bunkering fees owed which led to the detention of the ship, and salaries of the 23 crew. The release of the ship is in process. The ship had been detained in India’s Haldia Port since December after the Tranvast declared bankruptcy, leaving debts to bunkering firms. The ship’s crew turned to the local Chinese embassy for help in February as food supplies and fuel on the ship were almost depleted. http://splash247.com/uniondemeterreleasedindianauthorities/
