Tanker rescued 30 migrants
On Aug 20, 2024, the “Tessala”, en route from Piombino to Dörtyöl, rescued 30 migrants near the island of Sardinia. The tanker had received an urgent call from the Italian Coast Guard after the boat had got in great difficulty and was threatened to sink at 2 p.m. The tanker reacted without delay and headed towards the position, where all castaways could be recovered. The crew provided essential first aid to the migrants. They distributed food, warm clothes and blankets to protect them from the harsh weather conditions, while waiting for the arrival of the Italian Coast Guard.
