False hand grenade found near reception ship
On the morning of Jan 19, 2025, a hand grenade was found on the waterfront of Mook on the Maas where the reception ship 'Switzerland' is moored, by an employee of the ship. An explosives scout from the Limburg police examined the hand grenade and immediately called in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service of the Ministry of Defence. The approximately 80 Ukrainian residents of the ship were evacuated. It was initally found likely to be a grenade from the Second World War. It has now been determined that the grenade is not real. The residents of the shelter ship, about 80 people who, were taken to the town hall during the investigation, could return home.
