Collision on Danube
On Sep 6, 2011, the "Sveti Georgi" was in collsion with the "Sveti Nikola" on the Danube near Hofkirchen, Passau, community. The shiip which was loaded with 1060 tons rape was sailing together with the "Sveti Nikola" towards Straubing when the "Sveti Georgi" ran into the "Sveti Nikola". Then she was caught by strong currents and pushed onto the right side shore where she grounded on a gravel bank. The "Sveti Nikola" was only slightly damaged and continued its voyage. The water police and shipping authority Deggendorf was called and secured the casualty with anchors and ropes. It was hioped that the rising river tide would soon enable the ship to refloat and continue its voyage to Straubing.
