Reinbøen underway back home
The "Reinbøen" left Murmansk on July 11 at 10a.m. bound for Berlevåg again. A small coast guard vessel esorted the ship until it has got to a point known as A-1 off the Russian coast. With between 800 and 900 liters of fuel on board, the plan was to go to either Vardo or Båtsfjord. The trip to Vardo will take around 17 hours. The boat was taken into custody 11 days ago, as Russian authorities believe they moved across the border while fishing in Finnmark.
Ship seized by Russian Coastguard
On June 28, 2013, at 2.30 a.m the "Reinbøen" was seized by the Russian Coastguard because they were located within the Russian border. The boat and its crew of five were towed to Murmansk. The catch was seized too by the Russians. The five fishermen were taken in custody, and were not allowed to leave the ship in Murmansk. The Norwegian consulate has been involved and set up a lawyer and an interpreter. Two crew members a´were from Lithuania and did not have valid passport As he fish started to smell the fi´shers asked for ice but got only 30-40 pounds.
