On Aug 12, several assistance and rescue operations were coordinated by the CROSS Gris-Nez. Early in the night, theCROSS was alerted to the departure of a boat from the beach at Malo-les-Bains and deployed the 'SNS 087-Jean Bart II' from the Dunkirk SNSM station, which made contact and noted that the boat was heavily laden. The CROSS also engaged the 'Minck' to relieve the lifeboat. During the surveillance, the 'Minck' discovered that the boat had an engine failure. The CROSS also engaged the 'Ridens' to support the Minck. Shortly after, several people on board the boat requested assistance. The 'Minck' then picked up 52 people and disembarked them at the dock in Calais. The remaining occupants continued on their way. The ship then picked up 39 people on board and also disembarked them at the dock in Calais. Early in the morning, the CROSS Gris-Nez was alerted to the departure of another migrant boat in the Veules-les-Roses area. The CROSS engaged the 'SNS 209-Président J.C. Fortini' from the SNSM station in Le Tréport and the patrol boat 'Maroni' to monitor the boat. Shortly after, the CROSS engaged the 'Abeille Normandie' and the Calais National Gendarmerie's nautical brigade Ouranos to relieve the lifeboat and the patrol boat. During a migrant boarding on the beach, the 'Abeille Normandie' reported having rescued three people who had fallen into the water. They were then transferred to the RIB at the Hardelot beach station and disembarked directly onto the beach for treatment by the SDIS 62 rescue teams. Once the boat was underway, one person requested assistance and was picked up aboard the 'Abeille Normandie'. They were later disembarked at the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The rest of the boat's occupants continued their journey under the supervision of the emergency tug. In the morning, the CROSS Gris-Nez was alerted to the presence of a migrant boat off Sainte-Cécile and deployed the 'Maroni' to monitor the boat, followed by the PSP 'Cormoran' to relieve the 'Maroni'. The Calais National Gendarmerie's Ouranos nautical brigade, which was near the boat during a migrant boarding on the beach, reported having rescued six people from the water and then transferred them to a nearby firefighting vessel. The firefighters rescued 10 people. The remaining occupants continued on their way. A total of 111 people were rescued by the State rescue services.
