Search for missing fisherman suspended
The Coast Guard suspended the active search for a fisherman of the "Seeker" 10 miles north of Unimak Island in the Bering Sea on Mar 12. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard 17th District command center received a report from the vessel "Seafreeze Alaska" in the morning that a crewmember of the "Seeker", based in Newport, Ore., fell overboard. The watchstanders immediately directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew forward deployed to Cold Bay and redirected the Coast Guard Cutter "Alex Haley" crew from a routine patrol near Unalaska to the scene.
