Engine trouble off Half Moon Bay
The "Seacat" (573 gt, built 2004), en route to Kennedy Point on Waiheke Island with 70 passengers and 20 vehicles on board, lost power to two of its four engines, following an electronic control fault, after sailing from Half Moon Bay, Auckland, on Aug 8, 2019, at 4 p.m.. The vessel had to drop anchor to stop the dirft, while the problem was being checked by technicians. The vessel was able to make its way back to Half Moon Bay, where the passengers and their vehicles were transferred to the ferry "Seaway" for the 6 p.m. sailing to Kennedy Point.
