69 migrants rescued from distressed boat
Following a distress call from Aarmphoneofficial on the afternoon of May 12, the 'Sea Punk 1' and the 'Nadiir' found an unmaneuverable inflatable boat with 69 people on board, including four children and an unconscious blind person. The 'Sea Punk 1' was the first to arrive, distributed life jackets, and assessed the situation: In addition to severe seasickness, approximately 25 people were suffering from chemical burns. Several children were severely dehydrated, and water was already pouring into the boat. Shortly thereafter, the 'Nadir' also arrived at the scene. Together, the crews began the evacuation. One person who had jumped into the water was also rescued. All survivors received first aid and were later taken into the Italian Coast Guard, who brought them safely to Lampedusa.
