Grounding on Azov-Don Sea Canal
On Dec 27, 2017, at 7.43 a.m. the "Mega" ran aground south of Buoy 28 on the Azov-Don Sea Canal after getting off the fairway. The ship had a cargo 3400 tons of wheat on board. Attempts to refloat it with the help of the icebreaker "Kapitan Demidov" so far have failed. The owner seeking extra facilities to refloat the ship, lightering was considered as an option too. The "Mega" was en route from Rostov to Samsung when she got stuck.
