Ferry suffered engine malfunction
On the morning of May 30, 2025,, the Ios Port Authority was informed by the Captain of the 'Santorini' about a malfunction in its starboard main engine, while operating a scheduled route from the port of Santorini to the ports of Ios, Sikinos andFolegandros. The ferry sailed at reduced speed to Ios, where it safely disembarked its 47 passengers. The Port Authority prohibited the departure of the ship until the damage was repaired and a certificate of class maintenance was presented by the classification society that monitors it. Passengers for Sikinos and Folegandros were forwarded to their destination with the care of the ship-owning company.
