Motor yacht towed to Porto do Son
On Aug 16 at 4:13 a.m. the 13-m-motor yacht "La Chainza' reported via VHF that it suspected that it had a rope entangled in the propeller and could not steer. There were three crew members on board. The boat was about 2.5 nautical miles from Punta Remedios (north of the Meixidos shoal), and requested assistance. The 'Salvamar Regulus' took it in tow and safely pulled it to Porto do Son, where it was berthed at 7:00 a.m. The response was coordinated by the Fisterra Maritime Rescue Centre.
Bismarck disabled off Os Brullos
The boat 'Bismarck II' was adrift in Os Brullos due to an engine failure on April 18, 2024. The 'Salvamar Regulus' was mobilized by the CCS Fisterra of Salvamento Marítimo to assist. It took the boat in tow and sefely pulled it to Porto do Son.
Four fishermen rescued
The four crew embers of the fishing boat 'Nuevo Abeijón' from Noia, that sank near Monte Louro, off the Galician town of Muros, have been saved after safely reaching some nearby rock formations on Oct 31, 2023. The alarm was triggered by other fishing boats that were nearby. Salvamento Marítimo was alerted at 10:25 a.m. The 'Salvamvar Regulus' was deployed and tried to get closer to the accident site, but the adverse sea conditions and the proximity of the stones prevented any rescue attempt. The fishermen had to wait on the rocks until they were rescued by the Pesca 1 helicopter. They were then transferred to the Hospital do Barbanza in Ribeira. Also the Helimer 401 helicopter waso involved in the SAR operation.
