Ferry suffered turbocharger issue
The 'Queen of Surrey' , serving on the Langdale-Horseshoe Bay route ,was pulled from service on Sep 20 due to a mechanical issue in the main engine turbocharger. The failure resulted in multiple cancellations over the weekend, and long lines of travellers at BC Ferries terminals. Some foot passengers resorted to taking water taxis across the water, while others were left scrambling for alternative transportation. Engineering teams worked through the night to get the vessel up and running again. After the damae was repaired, some cancelled sailings were reinstated. Transport Canada approved the ferry’s return in time on Sep 21 for the 1:15 p.m. departure from the Sunshine Coast community of Langdale. Bringing back the 'Queen of Surrey' also allowed for the 'Queen of Oak Bay' and the 'Queen of Alberni Äto return to their normal routes and schedules, allowing for some previously cancelled sailings from Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay to move ahead.
Ferry suffered propulsion trouble
The 'Queen of Surrey' will remain out of service until Jan. 28, 2025, due to needed repairs. The ferry had to be pulled out of sthe Horseshoe Bay-Landale route on Jan 1 due to a problem with its propulsion system. The 'Queen of Coquitlam' will continue operating on the Langdale–Horseshoe Bay route in the meantime. The 'Queen of Surrey' was sidelined in Landale.
Sailings cancelled due to mechanical issue
BC Ferries has cancelled two sailings of the 'Queen of Surrey' om Dec. 17 because of mechanical difficulty with the ship's pitch control. Affected were the 1:05 p.m. deparure from Langdale and the 2:10 p.m. departure from Horseshoe Bay- Sailings were expected to resume with the 3:15 p.m. departure from Langdale and 4:20 p.m. departure fromHorseshoe Bay.
