Overdue freighter safe
The US Coast Guard confirmed the safety of the overdue "Princess Samiah on Sep 8, following the passing of Hurricane Irma through the Caribbean. She had departed on Sep 6 from Tortola, British Virgin Islands, en-route the Caribbean island of Grenada, but the vessel did not arrive to its expected destination on Sep 7. Watchstanders in Coast Guard Sector San Juan were initially contacted Thursday by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Fort de France and made aware of the overdue "Princess SamiahO". Coast Guard watchstanders maintained coordination with MRCC Fort de France and Rescue Coordination Center Curacao, as they combined efforts to search and locate the overdue freighter. Coast Guard watchstanders successfully made contact with the vessel owner on Sep 8, who confirmed that the freighter was safely anchored off the Caribbean island of St. Vincent. All three crewmembers were reported to be safe with no injuries.

On Sep 7, 2017, the "Princess Damiah" was reported as overdue enroute from Puerto Rico to Grenada. The last known AIS position was 16 10N 063 30W southeast of the British Virginia Islands) on Sep 5 at 8.25 p.m., sailing at a speed of seen knots.
