Container ship left port again after allision

After the 'Xiang Fu' which had been berthed at the pier no.44 of Taichung port, Taiwan, broke loose from its mooring ropes due to strong winds on Feb 20 at 12.26 a.m., she allided with the stern of the 'OSG Admiral', which was berthed at the pier no.45 of Taichung port and then ran aground in the port. She was refloated by three tugs withthe high tide and then re-berthed at the berth no.44 at 1.15 p.m. The port authority inspected and investigated the two vessels in the morning of Feb 21. The 'OSG Admiral' sailed at 12.50 p.m., headed to Shan Tou with an ETA as of Feb 25, while the 'Xiang Fu' was still berthed and discharging cargo. The starboard side bulbous bow of the 'Xiang Fu' and the starboard stern of the 'OSG Admiral' had suffered damages.

Allision in Taichung

The bulk carrier 'Xiang Fu' (IMO: 9129029) broke off her moorings at Taichung port, Taiwan, in Feb 20, 2022, at around midnight LT during a storm hitting the Taiwan Strait and the western Taiwan coast. The ship drifted off its berth and allided with thr berthed 'OSG Admiral', which suffered slight damages. The 'Xiang Fu' drifted across the port basin and ran aground at the embankment. The bulk carrier was refloated about 11 hours later with tug assistance and taken back to its berth. The extent and character of damages were unknown, but an oil leak was mentioned.
