Grounding near Skye bridge

Sat Jul 13 17:33:37 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Prosperity" with a crew of seven on board, ran aground in position 57 16 49 N, 005 44 49 W, near the Skye bridge on July 12, 2019,, at 04.30 a.m. The Kyle coast rescue team has been tasked to assist and waited for the high water to attempt a recovery. The Portree RNLI ALB assisted in refloating. At 13.40 p.m. the vessel refloated on high water, with no damage or pollution reported.

Disabled fishing vessel towed to port

Fri May 10 12:05:42 CEST 2019 Timsen

The Macduff lifeboat "Lydia Macdonald" was diverted from training to assist the "Prosperity - UL 250" in Banff Bay on May 9 at 7:15 p.m. which had lost engine power. The lifeboat was on scene within three minutes after being requested by the Aberdeen Coast Guard. Due to the size of the casualty vessel, the flank station Buckie was also tasked to assist. Fortunately, the Buckie crew was also out for training and was just off Portsoy when it was requested. The trawler was adrift without power and the crew had put on lifejackets in case they had to evacuate. The Macduff RNLI boat stood by until the Buckie lifeboat arrived. The Buckie lifeboat "William Blannin" took the "Prosperity" under tow, while the Macduff lifeboat took position astern of the casualty to act as a brake during the towing operation. Low tide was expected about 10 p.m., so there was some urgency to get the casualty back into the harbour before the tide was fully out, which would have made manoeuvring the two lifeboats and casualty more difficult. The "Prosperity" was returned to Macduff Harbour at 8:15 p.m. and handed over to the local HM Coastguard teams who were on hand to assist.
