Bulkcarrier suffered steering defect

The 'Odysseas L.', en route from Amsterdam and waiting for orders heading to Canada, with 18 crew members on board in ballast condition, suffered a steering defect in position 50 52 03 N, 000 54 57 E, about 3,50 miles from Dungeness Point, in the morning of Jan 9, 2020. The vessel left the southwest lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme, using emergency steering and updated the Dover Coastguard about the issue and resumed the voyage after the repair works were completed.

Bulkcarrier boarded by robbers off Taboneo

The "Odysseas L." was boarded by seven robbers armed with knives, at the Taboneo Anchorage, in position 03 43 00S, 114 26 18E, on May 23, 2019, at 1.30 p.m. They were noticed by the duty watchman, and the alarm was raised. The robbers threatened the crew with their knives, stole ship's stores and escaped. The incident was reported to the Taboneo Port Control, who dispatched a patrol vessel to investigate.

Bulkcarrier assisted distressed yacht

The US Coast Guard and the "Odysseas L" responded to the disabled sailing vessel "Alien 1" approximately 350 miles southeast of Long Island Sound, New York, on June 8, 2015. Watchstanders from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Halifax had notified Coast Guard watchstanders at the 1st Coast Guard District's command center at about 5 p.m. on June 7 that the 44-foot sailing vessel was disabled with two people aboard. The "Odysseas L", which was enroute from Brake to Baltimore, initially notified RCC Halifax that the "Alien 1" was in distress, agreed to remain on scene until help arrived. The crew aboard the Coast Guard Cutter "Spencer" from Boston, responded to the distress. Once on scene, a rescue crew aboard the "Spencer"’s small boat transferred the two people from the "Alien 1" to the "Spencer". The cutter took the yacht in tow and is currently making way toward land.
