Stricken bulkcarrier towed to Port Louis
The "Nina P", which had suffered an engine room fire on Feb 13, 2012, has been towed into Port Louis, Mauritius by the Five Oceans Salvage tug "Coral Sea Fos". The tug has recently been based at Port Louis and was first on hand to respond when the call for assistance went out from the stricken bulker. There are no reports of any injuries to crew on board the "Nina P".
Nina P is drifting some 200 nm south of Mauritius
Ports and Ships SAR reports that bulk carrier Nina P is drifting, disabled after fire in engine room some 200 nm south of Mauritius, Indian ocean. Crew managed to extinguish fire, but the vessel lost all power, maybe with total blackout. Who’s to tow disabled bulk carrier, and where to, remains unknown. Maritime Bulletin http://www.odin.tc
Fire on Nina P
The "Nina P" suffered a fire on Feb 13, 2012, odin.tc reports. The vessel was en route from South Asia to Africa, the last AIS signal was dated Jan 09.
